Re-readathon: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead chapter #24

To keep up with our goal of re-reading more of our favorite books this year and re-discover them we created this challenge for ourselves to help accomplish that goal. We will be reading one chapter each day and also doing a blog post about the chapter, going into detail about each chapter in the book. We decided to start our re-read with Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any boarding school—it’s a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They’ve been on the run, but now they’re being dragged back to St. Vladimir’s—the very place where they’re most in danger...

Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy’s ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world’s fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

*Remember there will be spoilers*

Chapter 24:
First sentence:
In spite of all the training I'd received, all the lessons on Strigoi habits and how to defend against them, I'd never ever actually seen one.

Wow. Can't believe it's the last chapter. It's taken about a month to go through the chapters, but it has gone by so fast.
Okay, so last chapter. Rose is faced with Natalie, the Strigoi. Despite all her training Rose is not yet ready to face a strigoi and so fighting Natalie as a strigoi, or should I say try to, is not going so well. Probably can't be easy to see a girl like Natalie like that, so different from the person she used to be. I can't believe her and Victor, she did it to get him free and he just feels like it what must be done. Natalie manages to free Victor and after her and Rose keep fighting, luckily before Natalie can finish Rose off Dimitri shows up and kills Natalie. After that he takes Rose to the clinic and on the way they have an honest conversation about why they can't be together. At least Dimitri admits to having feelings for her after all. So of course they can't be together because they're both going to be Lissa's guardians and it's her they need to protect and focus on that.
So after all of that everything returns once again to normal. Mia is back with the royals, weirdly enough. Lissa is with Christian and only with the people who like her for who she reallt is. Lissa is also on some pills to help her, she doesn't cut herself anymore and isn't depressed. Her and Christian are so cute together! All lovey-dovey. Rose and Lissa also have a friend-moment talking about how it's better with Lissa's medication, but she misses the connection with spirit.
At the very end Rose goes to the priest to get some more answers about St. Vladimir and Anna because she's worried that Lissa will turn strigoi like Ms. Karp, but after the meeting she feels better. St. Vladimir had Anna and that he died of old age. Anna helped him dealing with the spirit and everything and like St. Vladimir had Anna, Lissa has Rose.

And that's the end of book #1.
This Re-readathon has been so much fun to do!
Next book will happen a bit differently as we'll do a post each sunday, still with the in depth with each chapter, there'll just be 7 of them instead.

Quote:
And then, suddenly he was there, charging down the hallway like Death in a cowboy duster.

His word came out thickly. "Yes, Roza. I did want you. I still do. I wish... we could be together."

So first chose the first one and then I came to the other one and thought it should be here, too. Dimitri saying Roza then it's a must.

Comments

  1. Wow I cannot believe we have come to the end of this book :) It has been so much fun! I thought Natalie and Victor were just all types of messed up. Their morality radar is a bit off. lol.

Richelle rounds up this book so beautifully.
