Throwback Thursday #29

Throwback Thursday is a bookish meme hosted every two weeks by me and Stephanie @Bookfever where we feature books that we've read in the past but are still crazy about. It could be a book you read as a child and still remember and love or maybe just a book that you haven't read in a long time and want to show your love for. Each week we'll be featuring a new random question to answer!

My pick this week:

Marked by P.C Cast & Kristin Cast

The House of Night series is set in a world very much like our own, except in 16-year-old Zoey Redbird's world, vampyres have always existed.  In this first book in the series, Zoey enters the House of Night, a school where, after having undergone the Change, she will train to become an adult vampire—that is, if she makes it through the Change.  Not all of those who are chosen do.  It's tough to begin a new life, away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling.  She has been Marked as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx.  But she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers.  When she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite club, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny—with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

I can't believe I didn't think of this before. Read a lot of them, but they never really came to mind. Granted, it might be because they're not standing on my bookshelf because I loaned them from a friend plus I read them in danish.
All I remember is Zoey and the many guys she has and for every book it got worse. I think I kept going because I wanted to see where it would go and hoping Zoey would grow up, but I've given up by now. My friend also stopped getting them and I don't plan on getting them myself. Also another thing I really found weird were how in the translation to danish they changed the names which made it really hard to talk to others about. Only a few remained the same. I could understand if it were because they wanted to change it to something more danish-ish, but they didn't. Weird.
But it was fun while it lasted. For sure liked some of the first ones more.

Question of the week:

What's your favorite book-to-movie adaptation?

I think I'm gonna go with the hunger games. It seems like it's the only one where I'm happy with the cast, how the movie was made and pretty much everything. The movie didn't ruin the book for me and everything they changed, made sense. Things have to be changed and scenes cut, but sometimes it's too extreme, but with the hunger games I felt like they really did an amazing job with the movies. Both the first and second and now I can't wait to see the next.
Although I gotta add, Pride and Prejudice (movie with Keira Knightley) were also nicely done, but I saw the movie first and read it after so it's different.

How about you?
Answer in the comment section! If you'd like to participate in Throwback Thursday you can add your post to the linky below. Feel free to add a favorite quote of the book you're spotlighting as well in your post. :)

  1. Oh god, I totally forget you telling me they changed the names in the danish translation. So funny. The first three books were nice enough but then it all went to hell. Zoey and her harem of guys. lol.
